Vandal managed to shake his bandage off the night after he saw the vet and I mentioned to the vet that the bandage had slid some (hint, hint). So Julia had to take him in for rebandaging. The vet who did the surgery (there are four vets in the practice) saw him this time and decided he doesn't muck with his paws, so he doesn't need the bandages. Guess who is a happy kitty?

I had a carotid duplex done today -- they dopplered my carotid arteries just to make sure last week's problems weren't caused by intermittent blockages. The technician said there was nothing to worry about, but that the radiologist had to sign off on it and send it to my doctor. So presumably there are no surprises lurking in my future. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the neurologist to get back from his conference so he can review my file and we can set up an appointment. I'm hoping the symptoms last week will encourage them to get me in before May.

Oh damn, I need to contact the ophthalmologist to get the insurance to approve yearly visits.

Another funky eye thing today, so I'm going to start keeping a log. That way, when I see the doctors, we can look for possible patterns.

I forgot to mention something about Vandal's vet visit. While we were there, a local farmer brought in his eight-day old Bactrian (two-humped) camel because she was having tummy trouble. She came about midway up my chest and weighed 75 pounds -- which he said is on the small side but she was born a little premature and rejected by her mother. She was soooooo CUTE!!!!

Sorry to be carping about health all the time (it seems). But I've had some scary experiences over the last couple of days. Sunday, I started having some trouble reading because pieces of the letter would disappear behind a tiny silvery/whit-ish or a black spot a couple of pixels in size. At some point many of these popped up in my central vision, so it looked like a big black and white shimmery prism. In a couple of minutes this slid off to the left side of my vision and hung out there for a couple of hours. I'd had this happen twice before and the optometrist thought it might be a big floater, so I didn't think too much of it till Sunday. I had also gotten a bit of a headache, so I took a migraine med. The spot disappeared before the med kicked in.

BTW, for those who are wondering why this is an issue -- I only have vision in one eye, so we can't tell if this is a problem with one eye (like a floater or retina issue) or if this is a problem that both eyes should be experiencing (which would be much more serious).

Then today, I had TWO very similar experiences. Prior to Sunday, I'd only had two and they were two years apart. Now I've had three in one week and two in one day. I went back into the doctor today (I had had a followup appt scheduled yesterday for BP) and he thinks it's just a migraine variant. I don't think so, but I have an appointment to get my carotid arteries checked, a neuro consult being scheduled (from yesterday's appointment), and an ophthalmologist being scheduled. So we'll see what they have to say.

Otherwise, I've been feeling pretty good. The fatigue and muscle aches have gone away.
