May. 16th, 2005 02:37 pmStill waiting to hear what the rate will be on the job that starts next week. I got the contract in the mail and it appears that I will be a subcontractor (we didn't talk about that). He's gonna need to hit that $30/hr mark or I might walk. BTW - I don't think the way he is setting this up is legal, but I'm gonna wait and see.
This has not been a good couple of weeks health-wise. I haven't been sick, just had odd things happening. First it was breaking a tooth and not feeling it at an event. Yesterday I leaned over to pet my kittie and the side of my jaw HURT! I touched it and realized it was very swollen like mumps. Well, we hightailed it to the urgent care clinic that is part of our insurance and got me looked at (we were worried about an allergic reaction to something). Turns out I have either an infection in my parotid gland or a blockage in the parotid gland. So I came home with doctor's order for antibiotics, ibuprofen, vicoden (mainly so I can sleep with the pain) and hard, sour candy. Yep, that's right, the doctor told me to suck on candy. Seems sour candies help promote salivation, which would help clear a blockage (but hurts when it swells). So that's what I'm doing. I really ought to try to get a job as a med school case study.
To top it all off, I am teaching a class on medieval herbalism. We'll see how long it is, prolonged talking can be kind of sore, but I'll be careful.
BTW -- has anyone tried the new Diet Coke. It tastes almost like the real thing and doesn't have too much splenda aftertaste.
