Glorious weather
Apr. 8th, 2007 10:36 amWe finally found spring! We had the first really nice weather of the year. Friday was mid-60s and sunny. Yesterday was 70s and SUNNY!!!!!! Today should be 70s and cloudy. Then the temps drop back down to the 50s and rainy -- just what we are supposed to be getting.
I spent Friday morning at the house, unpacking kitchen stuff. Then I did a little yardwork -- getting the pine cones and branches picked up. Yesterday we bought a rake so I can get the pine needles (probably ponderosa pines). They'll put too much acid in the ground for my garden.
I am falling more and more in love with the house. Just being able to unpack the kitchen and have dishes clatter against one another without someone pounding on the wall to complain about the noise (our neighbor's bedroom abuts our kitchen and of course she put her bed against that wall) is absolutely wonderful. The dishwasher cycle is incredibly long, but the dishes do get CLEAN!!!!!! I've even cooked our first meal in it yesterday. We spent most of the morning and much of the early afternoon there unpacking and doing other stuff, so we had lunch at the house.
Then we played hooky! There's a park along the river in downtown that was built for the 1974 World's Fair. It's quite lovely. There's a gondola ride that goes out past the falls and back. At this time of year, the river is running high, so the falls are quite lovely. The spray was coming into the gondola car and we were several hundred feet away from them (that's okay, the spray gets onto the bridge that crosses 50 feet over them too). We walked around the park and then drove out along the river and back. *contented sigh*
