Feb. 12th, 2008 08:12 pmSorry to be carping about health all the time (it seems). But I've had some scary experiences over the last couple of days. Sunday, I started having some trouble reading because pieces of the letter would disappear behind a tiny silvery/whit-ish or a black spot a couple of pixels in size. At some point many of these popped up in my central vision, so it looked like a big black and white shimmery prism. In a couple of minutes this slid off to the left side of my vision and hung out there for a couple of hours. I'd had this happen twice before and the optometrist thought it might be a big floater, so I didn't think too much of it till Sunday. I had also gotten a bit of a headache, so I took a migraine med. The spot disappeared before the med kicked in.
BTW, for those who are wondering why this is an issue -- I only have vision in one eye, so we can't tell if this is a problem with one eye (like a floater or retina issue) or if this is a problem that both eyes should be experiencing (which would be much more serious).
Then today, I had TWO very similar experiences. Prior to Sunday, I'd only had two and they were two years apart. Now I've had three in one week and two in one day. I went back into the doctor today (I had had a followup appt scheduled yesterday for BP) and he thinks it's just a migraine variant. I don't think so, but I have an appointment to get my carotid arteries checked, a neuro consult being scheduled (from yesterday's appointment), and an ophthalmologist being scheduled. So we'll see what they have to say.
Otherwise, I've been feeling pretty good. The fatigue and muscle aches have gone away.
