Our eyes are bigger than our muscles
Feb. 29th, 2008 08:26 pmWe just picked up an elliptical trainer for me tonight. First was the fun of trying to fit it in the Element. It sort of fit -- only by pulling the passenger front seat all the way forward and leaving the back gate open! It might have helped if we had unloaded the three boxes of books first! *sigh*
Then it was too heavy for us to get from the car to the house. We had to take apart the box and carry in the individual pieces -- except the bottom section. It was too heavy for us to lift; we had to slide it along the sidewalk. A female neighbor came and helped some, so we eventually got it into our house. But there is no way in HELL we are getting it up to the second floor, so I guess it will go in the guest room after all. But, damn it, I am SORE! And so is Julia.
We both knew I could do more than either of us normally let me do. Fortunately my legs are in reasonably good shape and still strong -- I guess the physical therapy I had in my teens was good for something after all. So I mostly pushed the box while Julia pulled and lifted. But is was HARD WORK!
