Dec. 17th, 2009 09:52 pmJuliana and I are celebrating our 18th anniversary tonight! But we still can't get married ;( . We started the paperwork for official domestic partnership, but have to get our signatures notarized. That's a job for tomorrow.
We went to a lovely local restaurant. We both started with a roasted beet salad with lemon vinaigrette. The salads were huge and yummy! The vinaigrette offset the sweetness of the beets wonderfully. For our main course, Juliana had veal piccata on angel hair pasta and I had roasted cheeks of halibut over warm avocado and leek salsa with prickly pear gastrique. We shared a bottle of lovely chardonnay with it -- it paired wonderfully with both dishes. And dessert was a chocolate expresso torte with Bailey's Irish creme anglais. Talk about delightful!
We also got great service. Our waiter is a wine representative by day, so we also talked a little about wine/food pairings (a current fascination of mine). We gave him our contact info and expect to be hearing back from him. He is interested in having us attend a dessert wine and food pairing dealio next month. We'll probably need to pay something (~$20) for the event, but it will be worth it.
