Weekend of overcommitment!
Feb. 28th, 2005 10:49 amThis weekend was both wonderful and exhausting. I need my week just to recover (but poor Julia needs to be able to work).
We started the weekend with dinner and a show. We found a wonderful little Japanese place and had sushi. It wasn't the place we were intending to go (but lost the address) so it was a delightful surprise. The hot food there seemed incredibly popular, so we will be going back sometime. Then we stopped by Aunties bookstore (a local, privately owned bookstore) for dessert. Then to the show -- Evita. It was quite lovely once they got some of the sound issues worked out. The first group numbers kind of turned to mush. Julia thought that was a factor of the nosebleed seats we had, but later group numbers were fine. I disagreed with some of their interpretations -- mostly Che as Harlequino kind of broke my mind. He had serious moments but spent most of his time as a bit of a buffoon. I prefer him as the voice of Evita's conscience or as the voice of reason, but that was not how the director saw him. Oh well. We got home to a serious kitty cat mess involving missing the litter box that we had to clean up immediately, so we got to bed late.
Early the next morning (~7:00) we packed the car, picked up Owen, and drove five and half hours to Seattle for Day of Dance. It was a blast!!! Saw Greg again and danced as much as we could. Julia, of course, danced far more than I did. My knee gave up on Lauro, so very little Italian for me. But I participated in all of the non-Italian dances that were taught and danced for most of the ball (again non-Italian). The feast was quite lovely. Then we got back on the road to Spokane. We got a hotel about 45 minutes down the road.
The next morning we didn't get up nearly so early, had breakfast and headed toward Spokane. We actually were headed about an hour north of town to help with some heraldic consulting. Got there about 3:15 and left by 6:30. Had dinner, came home, pet the kitties, and went to sleep.
Enough said.
