Well, we went and got me a new laptop last night. It's a Toshiba Satellite, which doesn't always have the best battery life. But the machine is a pretty solid piece of work and we got the floor model for 10% off, so I made out reasonably well on the deal. Then we bought Office 2003 (Student/Teacher edition as Juliana is a professor) and so we now have licenses for the newest Office edition (it came with three licenses for $150, can't beat it). But it looks like just the new software would have fixed the old machine temporarily. At least we now have a machine we wouldn't mind dying when Julia is in the field.

Anyway, I'm getting all my software installed. I got most of my data moved last night, via jump drive (I still have game data to move) so I am up and running on the new machine. I have a few tweaks to get done, mostly getting all the new settings for my e-mail acocunts dealt with.

The interview was successfully rescheduled for tomorrow -- at 8:30. Guess that's some sort of penance for not being able to make the afternoon one yesterday. But, the HR rep was apologetic about the whole thing and was taking responsibility, so hopefully it won't reflect too badly on me.

Julia's on her way to a conference at Dartmouth this weekend. Fortunately, I'll be busy. First the interview, then we have a meat pie workshop Sat (for a fundraiser) then a Cook's guild meeting here. I think I should be glad she won't be under foot.
