Vandal's home -- on amoxicillin and Flagyl. Both to treat the probable infection that caused all this. Lucky guy -- he gets to eat people food for a few days. Well, baby food, but babies are people too. Or are they? Hmmmm.

We committed major shopping today while we waited for word on whether or not Vandal was getting sprung today. We weren't planning to do too much, but some of the sales (like 25% off everything in the store AND 40% off one item of your choice) were too good to pass up. This meant that we've finally broken our cardinal rule -- no holiday shopping (unless you're getting some souvenirs for people). These were stores we normally do holiday shopping in because their stock is sooo cool. Sigh.

My baby is home, and doing (more or less) well. He's curled up on my lap, where he's been for most of the time since we got home. He's just being quiet - but it's a definite improvement since last night, when he crawled into a cabinet at the vet's and just wanted to be left alone.

Everyone at the vet loved him - even a dog owner who had stopped by called him "adorable." But we still don't know what caused his GI problems. Whatever it is seems to be acute rather than chronic; all his bloodwork looked good (well, except for his first blood glucose level, which was quite elevated - a common reaction to stress among cats; when retested - twice - he was well within normal range). So, he just has a cute little bandage around the IV site on his right front leg.

But, man, he's an expensive cat now. We've dropped well over $2000 on him this year. But he's worth it.
