This has been a really rough week. First, I've had daily bad headaches since we got back from the holidays. That sucks!! I've had nearly no energy for doing anything (including coping) -- this means that we've eaten out way more than we should have, especially with wanting to buy a house but I have felt up to cooking or anything. I go to work, get through the day, come home, and collapse until bedtime. No energy, feeling crappy!

Second, work has been rough. I thought I had moved a project off my desk (back to some people in another location), but that changed the Friday before last. So I've been struggling trying to get a document done, but the guys in the other location don't want to work it. Since they do, they've been making it a real trial. In fact, while I've been ready to spit nickels I think my boss is ready to spit quarters, if not silver dollars -- and he's one of the most mild-mannered bosses I've ever worked for!!!!!!!

Third, the last several weeks have been a matter of working out my contract again. Seems the guy I've been "sub-contracting" under is getting a little worried about how long I've been "sub-contracting" so he wanted to bring me on as a W-2 employee with a over 20% pay cut and no bennies -- NOT! When I pointed out there was no benefit to the change for me, he offered eight holidays and the same rate -- NOT!! I proposed a 7.5% (basically my FICA employer contribution) change and he took it - and I still get eight paid days off to use as I will. So it was a win for me! But that just added to the stress over the last several weeks.

I need a vacation from my life!

Julia is being amazing busy as well. Her department is trying to hire two new tenure-track positions -- one is an Anthro position and the other is a cross-departmental position. So yesterday she spent 8 hours with about 8 other people doing conference call phone interviews. That's not including the time spend meeting about standards, time spent reviewing resumes, and time spend discussing candidates to phone-interview. After this, they need to interview about three or four in person (which will be an evening schmoozing and a day of presentations and interview for each one). And that is only for the first position. She gets to do this all over again for the SECOND position.
