Sep. 16th, 2007 09:20 pmThis weekend Juliana and I ran up to Glacier National Park. It's a long drive, but do-able for a weekend trip. And this was the last weekend that the Going-to-the-Sun road (the only road that goes all the way through the park) open until next season.
We slept in the Element! It works pretty well. The first night wasn't as successful for the second night -- that was mostly a matter of learning exactly how to pack things around the seats so we can get them as flat as possible. But we did it and it was pretty comfy!
We saw some wonderful scenery: beautiful mountains, glaciers, lakes, streams... We got up both mornings before sunrise to catch wildlife around the park, which was a major failure. We did manage to see a coyote (who crossed the back and forth in front of us before dashing RIGHT IN FRONT OF US to grab a roadkilled ground squirrel), a mountain goat, some Canadian geese, random songbirds and crows, mucho deer, an elk, either a juvenile bald eagle or a golden eagle (too much shadow to see markings), and a herd of bighorn sheep!! Pictures will be loaded later.
