Aug. 30th, 2009 10:32 amI had forgotten how tedious and time consuming making a sloper pattern is. I've been using the same pattern since around 1999, but I needed a new one. First, the old pattern is a little looser than it should be -- I had made sure I could get everything on over my head. Now that I will be lacing and buttoning, there's no reason to be that loose. In addition, my dimensions have changed a little over time (haven't all of ours?) so I want to reflect that. Finally, I'm planning to make structural undergowns and need a pattern for those.
So yesterday was spent getting some new measurements that work with my sloper directions. Then I started to map it out, but my body said enough was enough -- bending over the table, moving the 4-foot metal ruler, drawing lines, etc. was too much to do without support for my shoulder. Sigh.
Today I will finish mapping the back of the pattern, then find appropriate fabric to test on. We'll see how well I did.
