sue_n_juliaA few weeks ago I received a notice from the IRS stating that I owed them lots o' money, that the income stated on my W2 didn't match my 1040 -- FOR 2007! My W2 that year was hand-written and someone didn't bother to double-check their reading of the first digit of withholding. It was a 9, not a 4 (and actually pretty obviously a nine). So I sent them a new copy of the W2, my last three stubs for the year (recalculated as my boss that year had made a math error) and a letter explaining all that. I just got the notice today that they had closed the inquiry and I didn't owe them a dime!!!!
That was a win, but the recurring headache today is not. We just had a major front come through last night and it dropped our temps over 20 degrees! It's gotten cold here; our high today was 20 degrees below normal (our high was 46). Grmmph.
