Dinner was lovely! I brined two Rock Cornish Game Hens in white wine, ginger, and garlic. Yumm! Their meat was quite tender, and excellently (if a little more subtly than expected) seasoned. And not salty at all! The recipe will be on my food blog this week.
I paired that with mashed potatoes that I steamed instead of boiling and roasted harvest veggies (beets, carrots, turnips, brussel sprouts, and crimini mushrooms). I love my roasted veggies.
So the house smells delightful and is wonderfully warm! I've had my share of an exciting unoaked chardonnay from British Columbia. And later will be cookies!

Date: 2009-11-29 04:35 am (UTC)I will try that since I could use a colander anyway, it would be a multiuse tool and that's alright by me :-) Less is more.
Thanks again for all the advice :)
